Living capitals

What it does

The Living capitals package fills the capitals with life. While you are in a capital, a few random bots become its citizens: they walk between banks, auction houses, mailboxes, inns and trainers, go AFK, sit down, talk to each other, fool around and greet you. When you leave, they go back to their normal random-bot life.

It needs the Playerbots package and uses its random bots, so it only works when random bots are enabled (see Playing with bots).

How the city comes alive

  1. You enter a capital. Every few seconds a couple of new citizens arrive, so the city fills up gradually.
  2. Random bots already in the city are taken first. The rest arrive out of your sight, never in front of you.
  3. Each citizen picks its next mood: stroll to a point of interest and linger there, go AFK for a few minutes, sit down (on a tavern chair when one is near), talk to a nearby bot, or dance and do something silly.
  4. Now and then a citizen greets you with a wave or a hello. The same citizen greets the same player at most once every 10 minutes, and a whole city emotes at you only now and then, so it never turns into spam.
  5. You leave the city. After 5 minutes (by default) without any real player there, the citizens go back to their own business and are moved away when nobody sees them.

A citizen that wanders out of the city walks back, or is moved back if it strays too far or too long.

Citizens are still bots

A citizen stops being a citizen when it dies, when you invite it to your group, or when it queues for a battleground or the dungeon finder. Invite one and it becomes a normal party bot. Nothing about citizens is saved; after a server restart the city is filled anew.

Settings
